2004 Bearing Burners Car Club Show

The show held July 31, Saturday from 3 - 8 PM was a great take.

Present from our club were Animal, Doug, Bob Gamache, Jim Travers, Ray, F'n Dave, President Powers, and myself. We were also joined by Ward, who accompanied me in the Disgustinmobile, and later by the clubs cofounder, Jack Bracket in his blue cabriolet. F'n Kenny teamed up with F'n Dave and Animal's race car partner, Peter, hooked up with us as well.

The show was held in the paved parking lot behind Shawsheen Technical School in Billerica. Lots of sunshine, lots of heat, lots of sun poisoning, gobs of food and a good mix of rides.

This time our club overwhelmed the rat rod class ~ a first for us!

We pulled a beautiful plaque for placing in the club attendance category. The Dracut Road Runners and The Sunshine- Breakfast- Cruisers Club were also winners in this category.

Additional trophies were given to Bob Gamache for his traditional "Rat Rod" 1934 five window coupe and President Powers trophied with his Victoria in the street road category. The speckled Disgustin mobile pulled a trophy in the unfinished category ~ this puzzled f'n Kenny because he thought it was finished. DOH!

At the close of the event F'n Kenny was told to never return in the company of the Dominators after sucking the raffle department dry "again." His final catch of the day "a genuine piece of tail" should give him bragging rights for a long time.

All afternoon there was a constant line of observers and comments made about our rides.
Make us all PROUD!

Doug's truck, with the newly applied flames, was the only one of that vintage with a big block. No flat head for that man! Made the purists choke and sent hot rodders into a state of frenzy.

Animal's Mini had everyone asking, "Waizit?"

The young kids and rat rodders hovered around Ray's truck all afternoon. The most frequent comment was, "I like it!"

Lots of people were asking Jack about the engine in his cabriolet. How unusual, a Ford in a Ford.

F'n Dave and F'n Kenny had their back seat filled with Kenny's swag. You wouldn't believe the stuff they hauled home.

Gamache deservedly trophied in the outlaw hot rod class ~ he said the trophy would be shared with Roy on the odd number days of five week months, the 33rd, 35th and 37th etc. President Powers executive ride gleamed in the afternoon sun with its new ghost flames and it's chromed TPI engine peeking out. The trophy, riding home on the passenger seat looked pretty good too.

Jim Travers Mercury coupe was parked behind a '42 Mercury coupe. The crowd loved the contrast between the two.

The Bearing Burners provided their guests with a quality show and we wish to express out thanks to them for a great time.

Looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting, August 19th ~ Thursday night at the club house on the hill. Pizza and salad will be served to members and their guests.

Respectfully submitted,

Disgustin
